Mt Kailash From Simikot

Mount Kailash is a mysterious mountain for travellers. But for Buddhist, Hindus and Bonpo faithful it is the abode of God Shiva; it is their sacred land. Kailash peak and Manasarover Lake are situated at 4500 meter above sea level; it is at the highest elevation on the Tibetan plateau. It is the source of holy rivers of south Asia like Indus, Sutlej, Brahamaputra and Karnali. Despite its barren and dry features the lake and the mountain has magnetic influence to devotees and visitors alike.

The journey starts from Simikot, travel to Yari, cross a high pass at Nara La and descend to Humla Karnali River to reach the border village of Hilsa and Khojarnath. Drive to the region’s trading centre at Taklakot (Purang). Green and wet monsoon weather changes to dry, cold and sunshine at the plateau. The sky is deep blue with scattered cloud. From Taklakot drive to Manasarover Lake and onward to Darchen. Walk 2 nights 3 days for Kailash(Parikrama) round and drive continue to the Nepal border via Saga and Nyalam.


Day 01 – Arrival in Kathmandu.
Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02 – Kathmandu Sightseeing and briefing on the tour.
After breakfast: Briefing on your tour to Mount Kailash and Manasarover and sightseeing tour of Syambhunath, Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03 – Fly to Nepalgunj.
Fly to Nepalgunj in the far south west of Nepal. It is a busy crowded city which lies close to the Indian border. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 04 – Fly to Simikot (2950m) then trek to Dhara Pokhari (2300m):
This morning we fly to Simikot, the headquarters of Nepal’s most remote district, Humla. After meeting crew and pack the necessary things and start the trekking. The trail goes through walnut and apricot trees until arrive in Dharapokhari village which is divided by the Yakba Khola. Overnight at Camp.

Day 05 – Trek to Salli Khola (2750m).
We cross a long screed slope and follow the river to water fall near shepherd and climb over a ridge and by pass the village Kermi before entering a big valley of potato and buckwheat fields. Then walking further through pine forest and descend from ridge to the Sallikhola. Overnight at Camp.

Day 06 – Trek to Muchu (3120m). 
Cross the river and climb over a rocky ridge before descending to the grey waters of the Humla Karnali. We cross several more ridges and passing the villages of Yalbang and Yangar. The Trail goes to above the river and cross a suspension bridge to the village of Muchu.Overnight at Camp.

Day 07 – Rest day.
Rest day for explore the Muchu village and the monasteries. Overnight at Camp.

Day 08 – Trek to Sipsip (4350m).
From Muchu, we follow the trail over a ridge to the Tumkot Khola and trekking through rocky stream bed the pass through Palban and its bright yellow mustard field of Yari village and continue follow the main route towards the Pass Nara La(4650m) to reach the Sipsip for camping.Overnight at Camp.

Day 09 – Trek to Hilsa (3750m).
From Sipsip we trek up to the top of Nara La (4650m) and descending to the Hilsa (The border village of Nepal side).Overnight at Camp.

Day 10 – Trek and drive to Taklakot (3950m).
Shortly after crossing the Nepal/Tibet border which is marked only by a stone pillar, we meet our Tibetan guide and vehicles and drive via Khojarnath (Temple of Rama, Sita and Laxman) to Taklakot is the large trading centre of west Nepal & Tibet border. Tibet guest houses also available in Taklakot (Purang).Overnight at Guest house/Camp.

Day 11 – Drive to Chiu Gompa at Manasarovar Lake (4550m).
Holy-Manasarovar (4558m): Today we drive to the highest holy lake Mansarover which is surrounded by holy Kailash parbat (mountain), Mt. Gurula Madata and Rakhesh Lake. The region is considered rich for gold and other mines, hot springs and hundreds of wild living creatures. Overnight at Guest house/Camp.

Day 12 – Explore Manasarovar Lake and drive to Darchen (4650m.)
Early morning take a deep bath at holy lake and hot spring(optional) and after make a Puja(Optional) at bank of the lake, we drive to Darchen (4650m) 40kms.It is considered as a base camp for the Holy Kailash Parikrama. Overnight at Guest house/Camp.

Day 13 – Trek to Dira Puk (5000m).
After breakfast, we drive to Tarboche( starting point) and start for Parikrama along with beautiful rocky cliffs, waterfalls with some clouds in the clear blue sky make you a feel that great god Shiva is everywhere with tons of blessing for you .It is about 15 kilometre trail takes about 6-7 hours to reach Dira Puk Gompa .Overnight at Camp.

Day 14 – Trek over Dolma La pass (5630m) and descent to Zuthul Puk (4850m).
Hardest but Holiest day of your pilgrimage Yatra with Dolma-La (5630m) between two valleys: Yamasthal should be crossed to reach the Shiva-sthal while your steps go closer to the pass. Once you reach the top, just do the holiest offering and sit down for meditation to forget yourself. Once your steps go down, Parvati-stal and Gauri Kunda are on the way. By the late afternoon you will arrive at Zuthal Puk.Overnight at Camp.

Day 14: Zuthulpuk to Dongpa or Saga:
This is the day we finish our Kora (Parikrama) of Mount Kailash at Zongjerpu and drive to Dongpa or Saga takes about 6-7 hours. Overnight stay at Camp or Guest house in Dongpa or Saga.

Day 15: Drive Dhulikhel takes about 10-11 hours. After clearing the boarder formalities, our Nepalese staffs will pick you up from border by tourist coach and continue proceeds to Dhulikhel. Overnight stay at Dhulikhel Resort.

Day 16: Final departure. After breakfast, transfer to the International airport for final departure.
